2. Your photo
Tips for a photo that passes
- Stand 2 to 4 feet in front of a plain white or off-white wall (or hang a white sheet). Step forward from the wall so no shadow falls behind you.
- Have someone else take it from about 4 feet away, camera at eye level. Selfies at arm's length distort your face.
- Face a window or a soft lamp so both sides of your face are evenly lit. No flash.
- Take off glasses and hats. Neutral expression, eyes open, mouth closed. Leave room above your head and show your shoulders.
- Use the original camera photo, not a screenshot or a photo sent by text.
Not an official acceptance guarantee. These are basic checks; the agency makes the final decision. Things we can't check: glasses glare, hair over the eyes, how recent the photo is, and whether it looks like you.

Questions
How much does it cost?
The check and watermarked preview are free. The clean photo is $4.99: the digital file plus a 4x6 print sheet (for documents that need prints). One purchase covers up to 3 photos, so you can retake.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. PhotoFit runs entirely in your browser. Face detection uses an on-device model, and your photo is never sent to FixLetter or anyone else.
Will my photo be accepted?
We can't guarantee it. PhotoFit checks the size, framing, and basics like the background, lighting, and pose, but the passport office or embassy decides. This is not an official acceptance check.
Do you remove or whiten the background?
No. The U.S. State Department and other agencies reject photos with edited backgrounds, so we only crop, straighten, and resize. Take the photo against a plain white or light wall.
How do I print it?
Download the 4x6 sheet and print it at a pharmacy or store photo kiosk as a standard 4x6 print at 100% size, then cut out the photos along the lines.
